The Carbonarium, located in the modernized former baths of the Moszczenica mine, is a four-story exhibition that will delight science and industrial history enthusiasts as well as the local community.
During a visit to the Carbonarium, visitors will have the opportunity to learn how elemental carbon was formed in the universe, how it appeared on earth, and how hard coal was formed from it. The exhibition will also tell the history of the mining industry and the traditions of using coal as an energy resource. In addition, you will be able to learn about the impact of coal and its compounds on ecosystems and the world around us, as well as the development of Jastrzębie-Zdrój and its residents.
The centerpiece of the facility is a large “levitating” lump of coal, which is not only a visual attraction, but also symbolically reflects the importance of coal in the history and life of the Jastrzębie-Zdrój community.
